British Cider Week is under way, with cider makers across the country marking the annual celebration from 24 April to 4 May, and Devon is playing a full part in this year’s programme.
Organisers say British Cider Week is designed to help people explore the range of modern British cider, from traditional sparkling dry varieties to low- and no-alcohol options.

According to Weston’s Cider Report 2026, Brits spend more than £3.17 billion on cider each year.
Campaign organisers also said a recent survey of 1,250 UK adults found cider ranked highly against other alcoholic drinks for flavour, quality and value for money.
Fenella Tyler, CEO of The National Association of Cider Makers (NACM), said: “There has never been a better time to find YOUR cider.”
She added: “From bottle-fermented sparkling dry ciders served at celebrations, to premium flavoured options in bars, vintage ciders paired with Sunday roasts, and low- & no-alcohol styles enjoyed at lunch, there truly is a cider for every taste and every moment.”
In Devon, several events are taking place during the week, with a focus on orchards, local food and the county’s cider-making heritage.
On Thursday, 30 April, Sandford Orchards in Crediton is joining with Darts Farm at Topsham near Exeter for a British Cider Week dinner featuring food and cider pairings.
On Friday, 1 May, Courtney’s Cider is due to appear at Toby’s Garden Festival at Powderham Castle near Exeter, while Sandford Orchards’ Cider Works in Crediton will host both its regular Tap Room and Pizza Night and a behind-the-scenes “Tour of the Barrels”.
Events continue across the bank holiday weekend, with Courtney’s Cider returning to Powderham Castle on Saturday, 2 May, and Rull Orchard in Devon opening for blossom-themed orchard visits on 2, 3 and 4 May.
Late April and early May are also peak blossom season in the West Country, often described by organisers as the “snow of the West Country”, with orchard walks forming a major part of this year’s celebrations.
British Cider Week also highlights cider’s role alongside food, with organisers pointing to pairings with West Country Cheddar, roast pork, seafood and curries.
Devon’s own producers are also part of the wider national spotlight, including Crediton-based Sandford Orchards, whose Devon Red and Devon Red Zero reflect growing interest in both traditional and alcohol-free cider.
For Dartmoor and wider Devon residents, the week offers opportunities to visit orchards, attend tastings and explore one of the South West’s best-known rural industries.
